This new boss was ready to make some changes in the workplace, starting with this system administrator’s daily schedule.
Having a coworker who you’re completely compatible with is such a blessing. There are so many types of personalities in the world that you’re going to end up working with people of all backgrounds. So when you find a coworker who can make both of your lives easier, you know you’ve found a kindred spirit. This person had a great boss at first, as well as a coworker that he staggered shifts with. That way, the OP could come in on the early side to prepare reports, while their coworker started about four hours later, and subsequently left later. The new boss decided that he needed to throw his weight around a bit, and instead of asking the OP and their coworker about their work flow, this boss decided to just screw up their schedules.
The boss was a nepo-hire, which may explain some of his actions. It seems like nepo-hires often want to prove that they’re good enough for the job. They want to immediately show they can make a difference… but this was definitely not a step in the right direction.
