Usually, when you end up with a bad boss, you’re stuck with them—unless the opportunity comes up to change jobs quickly. That means you’re in for a lot of suffering and a lot of stress while you attempt to coexist with a terrible, insufferable person who also happens to have authority over you.
That is, of course, you can somehow get them sent packing, which is harder to do in some organizations than you might think. If it’s a manager who has been with the business a long time, they probably have a lot of goodwill to wear through, and if they’ve been around for this long, it might be a sign the organization is rotten all the way through.
