Sometimes having a thorough knowledge of the law can work in your favor. Actually, come to think about it, I can’t imagine a time where it wouldn’t be handy to be well educated on the laws are you… (I will be Googling some things after this.) You never know when someone might be trying to pull a fast one over you and make you think something is the law, when, in fact, it is not and they are just using “the law” as a tactic to do whatever they want.
A retired detective recently shared a story of catching a deputy sheriff in the middle of breaking the law for his Karen mother. The then-still working detective was enjoying a nice summer day off with his two teen kids at the local public lake. He had a small motorboat he would ride around and his kids could tube and swim, etc. At one point, they needed to use the restroom, so he pulls up to shore so they could use the public restrooms. That’s when the annoying Karen lady comes over to throw a fit at them.
She said no boats were allowed on shore ever (lol) and that he was breaking the law. He pointed out that he was behind the sign that prohibited boats and that he was perfectly within the law. She then proceeded to call her deputy son who then revealed OP’s full name to her through his boat number. This is very much illegal and OP didn’t spare any time to let this deputy have it. He ended the conversation telling the deputy to make his own mother leave the lake instead, which he did. From then on, whenever the Karen mom would see OP, she’d pack up and leave. Score!
