Even if you strive to have a gossip-free and peaceful workplace, people like the Karen in this story make it hard to keep the peace. When an employee decides they’re better than their colleagues, and decides to police their every move, you’d better believe that every other worker is going to avoid that person at all costs. No one likes a stickler to the rules who isn’t even paid to be a stickler to the rules. She’s doing all this extra work, and for what? To be the least-liked person on staff? Maybe the glee this woman gets from putting others in their place is worth it to her.
Most workplaces just have to put up with employees like her, but at least u/friedalto got the last laugh. The employee ended up paying a massive fine, while the OP paid just a small amount for their own fine. What goes around comes around, Karen.
