Working conditions in the developed world are both better and worse than what has been experienced by people in the past. On the one hand, we are protected from working dangerous, twelve-hour shifts at the cotton mill like at the start of the Industrial Revolution; on the other, most American employees infamously get less vacation time than the average medieval peasant (don’t let the feudalism defenders hear about this one).
In one way or another, having a job is rarely plain sailing. That’s kind of the reason we get paid for them. However, just because that’s normal doesn’t mean that we have to suck it up, as proven by the existence of work memes. The need to earn a living does not have to detract from a healthy, hate-first attitude towards the workplace. It might not help with motivation, but things sure are funnier when we look at them this way.
