However, over the Holiday weekend, there was a crisis at work and the technician’s boss tried to get in contact with him to get him to come in. The technician turned off his work phone because he was on vacation after all, so his boss thought it was appropriate to contact the technician’s wife. She shared her side of the story via this Reddit thread, and let’s just say that she was unhappy to receive this phone call.
This toxic boss crossed so many lines throughout this anecdote. Refusing to honor his employee’s vacation time was merely the first one. Using the technician’s emergency contact information to get in touch with his wife was another. And then there’s threatening termination if he didn’t come to work. Moral of the story: if your boss pulls any of this nonsense, it’s time to look for a new job.
