Everyone has those cute little misconceptions they pick up during childhood that take too long to shake. When my dad was a boy, he thought that his dad went to “meetings” to eat a lot of meat. That is cute and charming and extremely age-appropriate, but not all misconceptions are that way. For some godforsaken reason, I thought that “chaste” meant ” motivated” until I was in college. Granted, I didn’t grow up in an institution that demanded that I be chaste, but still, that is pretty inexcusable. I also thought that the Nickelodeon channel was named after the one and only Nick Cannon, but that’s not my fault. I was confused by his nearly constant presence at The Kids Choice Awards, and you can’t tell me that wasn’t a little bit confusing.
Twitter users came together to share some of the funniest misconceptions they earnestly believed for years, and they range from hilarious to adorable to mildly concerning.
