As Thanksgiving and the Holiday season come closer, we need to prepare ourselves for the choosing beggars of the world, who will be coming out of the woodwork demanding special treatment with an air of desperation about them. It takes a specific kind of person to be able to be simultaneously desperate and entitled, and in my own life, I tend to see a lot of this in family and friends toward the end of the year. We’re talking about people asking for you to catsit for them for a few weeks and yet pay their rent while you stay with them. We’re talking about folks who ask for expensive hundred-dollar gifts for their kids rather than any of the countless cheaper options. We’re even talking about people asking for others to score concert tickets for them in exchange for free food.
