Being a team player can mean a lot of things. It can mean being a communicative collaborator. It can mean taking on tasks that are normally outside of your primary responsibilities in order to further a collective goal. One thing it does not mean, however, is taking a pay cut.
Unfortunately, in this economy, that seems to be one of the latest tactics employers are using to avoid mass layoffs, but one has to wonder if the executives at the top are making the same sacrifices. In fact, one should argue they should make greater sacrifices since the employees at the bottom of the corporate hierarchy have a harder time making ends meet. But that kind of humble behavior is too much to expect of these guys.
This Redditor learned that the hard way when their employers encouraged workers to take between 10 and 5,000 dollars out of their paychecks. Thankfully, they saw that this already bad sign was not worth the sacrifice, and so OP walked out right then and there.
