There are many justifiable reasons to break up with someone: lying, cheating, manipulation, etc. Much to the chagrin of some of you folks, breaking up with someone because they’re a bad texter is not exactly the same thing. The same goes for being woken up from a nap or not liking that they’re a Julia Roberts fan.
We love the concept of having high standards in theory. Of course, settling for just anyone will only lead to disaster. However, to that end, if you spend the entire time that you’re seeing someone searching for flaws and red flags that aren’t glaring ones, you’re just asking for the relationship to end. Perhaps subconsciously that’s what you wanted the whole time. In that case, maybe just don’t date for a bit? Because you’re clearly not ready for a serious relationship.
That being said, if you all didn’t have these problematic reasons to break up with your significant others, then we wouldn’t have nearly as much fodder for second-hand amusement. So for your own benefit, you should probably reevaluate your approach to relationships if you’re one of these people.
