We all know the classic dating red flags, but everyone has their own individual pet peeves. Sure, lying about being single or being a stalker are dealbreakers, but pet peeves can have the same power to immediately disqualify someone from being in your life.
Personally speaking, I have several red flags that I would always watch out for in my ‘first date’ days. Let’s start with the people who say that they are ‘open books.” No one who says that is an actual open book. The dates who say that are the kinds of people who are playing the role of a romantic lead but are merely robotic folks imitating and performing human beings on a date. I’d rather someone say “I’m a mess.” At least that’s real honesty.
Then, there are the people who are just out of a relationship and who are clearly trying to disguise that fact but are running into trouble. First of all, be a better liar. Second of all, take a breather before getting back out there. Sure, everyone says you want to get a couple of bad dates out of your system when you’re fresh out of a relationship, but no one wants to be one of those bad dates in that story.
