Texas is a state stocked full of critters. I had a friend who literally found an armadillo in his backyard! That sounds like a made-up “Texas-sounding” story, but it’s 100% true! When I was in middle school, there was a gorgeous peacock that often hung out in my family’s backyard and front yard! We called him “Peady peacock,” and while we’re pretty sure he was somebody’s exotic pet that ran away, he is a Texan icon as far as I’m concerned. We had moles, raccoons, and just about any other vermin you could imagine, but it was worth it to have 70-degree weather in November.
This past week, an opossum went viral for storming the field of a Texas Tech VS Texas Christian University football game. He was promptly removed, but his real moment of glory was going viral on Twitter, making sports fans and non-sports fans alike cheer him on.
