Airport security is full of arbitrary rules. Having to pay ridiculous fees in order to make your luggage ever so slightly lighter is just one of many. Let’s not forget that there is also all the TSA nonsense, and sometimes, the rules are wildly different depending on the airport. Sometimes you have to put all your bags in one cart, sometimes you have to separate everything, and sometimes they’re so backed up that no one has to take their shoes off (which makes you question the effectiveness of the entire system, but I digress…).
This Redditor began to question the system when he was told that he needed to make his bag slightly lighter or he would have to pay a considerable amount extra. When he was forced to lighten his load, he realized that he had about 200g of chocolate in his luggage, so he decided to eat it in front of the security guard. Thankfully, there wasn’t a long line. Otherwise, this guy would have been wildly annoying. However, hopefully, the security lady would come to understand that there is absolutely nothing meaningful about this rule if it meant that eating 50g of chocolate slowly and deliberately in front of her would get rid of the extra fees.
