No self-respecting dog owner calls their dog by their given name. It’s always a silly nickname like ‘Mr. Snuffulupagus’, ‘sausage boy’, or ‘Pepe le Pew’, but your dog should never be susceptible to their legal, written nomenclature that’s on their adoption forms. However, things can go wrong if your dog’s nickname is a little too far out there. Although it may seem harmless enough in your own house, calling your dog a semi-offensive nickname in mixed company can give people the wrong idea, especially when you’re shouting at the top of your lungs at the dog park.
