It’s fair to say that most people born in the past fifteen years or so have been raised with the internet as a co-parent. When all the adults in your life are helplessly tethered to their screens, it follows that you probably will be too. It’s going to be interesting to see what becomes of the generations who were raised by YouTube, not least because most of them didn’t really know what they were doing while they were on it. Thanks to this, millions of kids now have a legacy on the internet, displaying their naïve mindsets and dumb trains of thought for everyone online to see. Some of them are cute, some are just confusing, and all pose the question of whether they should be allowed to have unbridled access to the internet this long. One thing’s for sure, the whole thing will make cancel culture a lot more confusing.
