While working retail, these people have seen it all. Cashiers get to see people from all walks of life, of all ages, and of all levels of sanity.
These retail workers shared some stories of the wildest interactions they’ve had with customers. That’s one of the strange things about working retail—you always have to take the customer seriously, even if you’re pretty sure they’re messing with you. Some customers love to mess with retail staff, even though no one seems to find it funny except them. What do they gain from making the employee at a clothing store look for items that don’t exist, or trying to boss around the people who work at the supermarket?
It’s one thing if customers do these things and they’re funny. But a lot of the time, they’re being disruptive, or worse, the employee has heard that joke many times before. People loved to do this when I worked in a fast food establishment. They seemed to get real satisfaction out of pranking fast food workers, even though none of us ever had a reaction to it. There were groups of teens who loved coming through the drive through to attempt to order food we didn’t serve, and they’d rattle off a long list of items like tacos and candy that they knew we didn’t have. They must’ve thought they were the epitome of clever… little did they know, they’re the third person in a month to try that joke. Boring!
Next up, this couple had terrible service while at a restaurant, so they left a low tip, only for their waiter to protest their choice.
